Our New Adventure

So I mentioned Matt got a new job & that we may have to move.
At that point in time we had no idea what was going to happen.

We found out that he will be stationed in Oklahoma
but working up in the Woodward area
with his work schedule being 16 days on the rig
& 5 days at home.

We talked about me living in the farm house all by myself
for basically 2 weeks. I totally did not like that idea.
(Its out in the country, really quiet & my imagination gets the best of me.)
I did stay 1 night by myself & I maybe got 4 hours aleep
so atleast I tried it.

Luckily my Mema had to have surgery so she is staying with my parents
& I am staying at her house during this whole process.

Anyways we decided that we would get a rent house
& my friend Lori would live with us.
It happens to be that she is looking for a new place to live
& I am looking for a roommate so I am not alone while Matt is at work.

After about 3 weeks of searching for a home
we finally found one & put a deposit down.
We found out today that we are approved!

Matt has already completed his first 16 day shift
& he enjoys his new job.
I am so proud of him.
I am so blessed to have such a hard working husband.
He has been home for about a week now & I am lucky enough
to have a job where my boss lets me take off to spend time with him.

I am excited for our new adventure
& ready to move into our new home.

Apple Pie.

I know everyone knows about Pinterest,
but I found a yummy pie crust idea that I just had to try.
Pinterest is pretty awesome.
I have never made a pie so I figured since this was my first Christmas as a married lady
I would make a pie for my family.

Here is the pie crust recipe. It also has a sweet potato pie recipe
but I just use the crust instructions.
I ended up using 3 boxes of pie crust instead of the 1 it says she used.
Good thing I have a great hubs who ran to the store for me when I needed more pie crusts. ;)

And here is the apple pie recipe.
The next time I make this I will cut the apple slices alot smaller.
I only halfed a few of the slices so the apples sat little high

which made the top crust not fall all the way.
But overall everyone loved it, despite how ugly it looked. : )

I am pretty proud of myself!

Well Hello There...

I'd like to say that I am back to blogging but for right now
its just a temporary "I'm back" for a quick update on my life.
We are now 2 months into our marriage and it has been wonderful.
Here are some pictures from the wedding and honeymoon.

All of our jar centerpieces were from Matt's grandparents farm
(were we are living now)

Our wedding was everything we had hoped it to be.
Everything went smoothly and I felt good that whole day.
I still can't believe that our wedding has come and passed,
I still try to plan for it and then have to think "oh wait, I have already had my wedding."

On our honeymoon we went to Kona, Hawaii on the Big Island.

We had so much fun.

We also added another member to our family.
Piper

Okay that is it for now!
We don't have internet out at our house so not sure when I will be back. :)

Nineteen Days.

It is the 10th day of July.
I am getting married in 19 days.
I am still amazed on how fast the last 7 months have gone by.
Sometimes I can't believe Matt is home from Costa Rica
even though he has been home for 2 months.
Time is flying and the big day will be here before I know it.

Bridal Shower

I am a little behind on this
but I had my bridal shower June 4th.
It was so much fun and a little awkward :)
Opening up presents by yourself while people watch you
is just a little intimidating.
Maybe it is just me though...

My Bridesmaids.

My Great-Aunt gave me her Mom's (my great-grandma Duncan)
jelly dish. Very Special.
Woohoo! So Excited! : )

Such a great and special memory.
So thankful for all the wonderful people in my life.
I can't believe I am getting married, it is still unreal sometimes.

(sorry for the picture quality, I don't know why they look so bad)

House Remodel Part 2

We have been making some progress in the past couple of weeks.
We got our bedroom painted:

Matt stained our new kitchen cabinets
and we picked out our counter tops.

We still have not decided what we are going to paint the kitchen,
remodeling a house it a lot harder than I ever thought and just thinking
about paint is giving me a headache.

(Huckleberry loves helping out too.
He thinks he needs to dig a hole to go underneath the house
to work with his Dad.)

Now what we have left in the kitchen is putting in the cabinets,
we have them where we want them but we still have to
cut the holes for the water pipes and install those and
install the counter top and sink/faucet.

The next room we are working on is the bathroom:

Matt took out the sink a few days ago and
we scraped the old linoleum out of the bathroom.
We picked out a new vanity/sink top we like,
the bathtub does not have a shower head so we have to install one
and as much as I don't care for linoleum that is what we got for the bathroom floor.
It is cheap and the room is tiny so no big deal. :)

So much do to but
Matt won't be joining the Duncan family at the lake for the 4th weekend
so he can stay home and work on the house.
Maybe he will get lots done :)

On a side note, Matt's mom showed me this today:

This is Matt's Great-Grandparent's marriage certificate.

SO COOL!

Sorry for the long post! I hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July!
