So this weekend we headed back to Springfield.
In my previous blog I mentioned that we were going back
for Matt's tryout.
He played Saturday night and he did AWESOME!
I was so proud of him. Although there were 22 guys and 2 goalies,
Matt started, played half of the 45 minutes then the coach subbed
and put the rest of the guys on the field.
If you don't know much about soccer,
there are 11 players on a field with a goalie
and they play two 45 minute halves.
Anyways, halftime Matt got put back on, then they subbed
and then got put back on the field with about 15 minutes left in the game.
I was impressed that he got to play most of the game.
Although they lost 2-0 and they did score the first 2 goals while
Matt was playing, you do have to realize that the guys have never
played together before and they were playing a college
team that has been together.
I mean, I don't want to jinx it or anything, but
I think he might be getting to spend a summer in Springfield.
Although I will be sad that he won't be in town but I will be happy
for him because this boy LOVES soccer and it is pretty much his dream.
Well his dream is to go pro, but you get my drift.
By the way, I had to sit all by myself in the stands.
I wasn't a fan of that. I am also not a fan of being by myself at all.
But I did it. Props to me.
Well we left town Friday afternoon after our classes and
I really don't remember the trip taking as long as it did the
first time we went, but I guess I should get use to it if I will be going
to visit him some. (keeping my fingers crossed)

We both seem to have a thing for Harley Davidson
t-shirts. So Joplin had a nice Harley shop that we
wanted to stop at the last time we went but never got the chance.
When we stopped we checked out the bikes, dreamed a little,
and bought us a shirt, one for his dad, then hit the road.
Saturday we pretty much had all morning and a little afternoon
to play and hangout before the scrimmage. I wanted to
go to Fantastic Caverns when we went over Spring Break.
So I made him take is this time.
I mean I knew it would be right up his alley because
what environmental studies nerd wouldn't love
going cave exploring?

After we bought our tickets we went and explored the hiking
trails because we had about 20 minutes before the tour started.
He gets so surprised when I want to do these kinds of things.
I think he thinks I am some kind of girly girl or something?

Proof that I will go hiking.

There was a nice size log in the river and Matt said,
well we both thought of it at the same time,
"Lets go take a picture on the log!"
Now I was more worried about falling in and having to deal
with wet shoes the whole hour of the cave tour,
so I was super cautious about climbing on the log...

Now him on the other hand could just hop on over
with his long legs. Not cool.

Then the cave tour starts.

It was really pretty inside.
I went, no joke, 10 years ago and I remember it all pretty well.
It is just amazing how nature works.
I do have to give props to Matt for taking all the pictures.
He did a pretty good job.
Well Sunday it was time to leave,
and another thing we wanted to do last time
but forgot, was to take a picture of Drury Lane.
Maybe we thought we would see the Muffin Man?
(The local college is Drury University)

Well after we were being tourists and the scrimmage
we headed out Sunday morning.
I had so much fun with him this weekend.
I love my little getaway trips with him,
even if it is for soccer.
I'll leave you with my favorite picture of the weekend.
Sorry if you don't find him as cute as I do. : )
